Finance routes
One broker. Every way to fund an asset.
Compare all routes →Asset finance
Spread the cost of the kit that earns you money.
Asset finance lets a business use vehicles, machinery or equipment now and pay for them over an agreed period, so capital stays free for wages, stock and growth.
- ✓Adding capacity without a large upfront outlay
- ✓Matching payments to the working life of an asset
- ✓Businesses buying new or used equipment from a dealer or private seller
Hire purchase
Fixed instalments with ownership at the finish line.
Hire purchase splits the price of an asset into regular payments. Once the final instalment and any option fee are paid, ownership passes to your business.
- ✓Long-life assets you intend to keep
- ✓Businesses that want the asset on their balance sheet
- ✓Plant, HGVs, tractors and production machinery
Finance lease
Use the asset. Keep cash flow predictable.
With a finance lease you rent an asset for most of its useful life. The lender keeps legal ownership while your business enjoys full use of the equipment.
- ✓Technology and kit that dates quickly
- ✓Businesses that prefer rentals to ownership
Asset refinance
Turn owned equipment into working capital.
Refinancing raises funds against assets your business already owns or is still paying for, releasing equity while the equipment keeps working.
- ✓Funding a new contract, hire or expansion
- ✓Consolidating existing agreements
Sale & leaseback
Sell to a lender, lease it straight back.
A lender purchases eligible assets from your business and leases them back to you, unlocking a cash sum with no disruption to day-to-day operations.
- ✓Releasing capital from recently purchased assets
- ✓Restructuring a balance sheet

Behind the decision
What lenders actually look at.

FAQ
Useful answers before you enquire
Straight answers on eligibility, costs, documents, suppliers and what happens after you send a quote enquiry.
Are you a lender?+
No. Asset Finance Co is an independent broker. We introduce your business to finance providers whose criteria fit your asset and circumstances.
Will enquiring affect my credit file?+
Sending an enquiry through this website does not run a credit search. If a lender needs one later, we will tell you before it happens.
Can you fund used equipment or private sales?+
Often, yes. Many lenders on our panel consider used assets and private-seller purchases, subject to valuation and checks.
How quickly can funds be arranged?+
It depends on the asset, lender and paperwork, but having quotes, accounts and bank statements ready makes a real difference.
Can a new or start-up business get asset finance?+
Yes, in many cases. Some lenders support businesses in their first year, often with a deposit, director guarantee or evidence of contracts and experience.
What's the difference between hire purchase and leasing?+
With hire purchase you own the asset after the final payment. With a lease you rent it for the term and usually return, extend or sell it at the end. Our HP vs lease tool compares both.
Can I refinance equipment I already own?+
Often, yes. Refinance or sale and leaseback can release cash tied up in vehicles and machinery you own outright or that have equity remaining.
Do you charge a fee?+
We are normally paid commission by the lender. If a fee ever applied, it would be explained in writing before you commit. See our commission disclosure for details.
What about tax and VAT?+
Treatment varies by agreement type and your business. Always check with a qualified accountant before relying on any assumption.
What types of assets can you help finance?+
We commonly help with vans, HGVs, trailers, plant, agricultural machinery, manufacturing equipment, IT, hospitality equipment and renewable-energy projects. The asset must be identifiable, commercially useful and acceptable to a suitable lender.
Do I need a deposit?+
Not always. A deposit can improve affordability, pricing or lender choice, but the right amount depends on the asset, business profile, trading history and proposal. We can compare options rather than assuming one deposit level.
How long can the finance term be?+
Terms depend on the asset's useful life, condition, resale value and lender criteria. Longer terms can reduce the regular payment but usually increase total cost, so we compare the payment with the full amount payable.
Can you finance an asset from an auction?+
Sometimes, but speak to us before bidding. Auction deposits, payment deadlines, title checks, valuation and the asset's condition can all affect whether finance can be arranged in time.
What information should I include in a quote enquiry?+
Start with the asset, supplier, approximate price, whether it is new or used, how long you have traded and what the asset will help the business achieve. A registration, serial number or supplier quote is useful but not essential for the first conversation.
Can you include installation, conversion or attachments?+
Often, if the items are clearly quoted and connected to the main asset. Tell us about racking, bodies, tooling, installation, commissioning or other project costs before the proposal is structured.
Will I need a personal guarantee?+
It depends on the business, trading history, asset and lender. Guarantees are not automatic, but newer businesses or proposals with limited security may be asked for one. The obligation should be explained before you commit.
Can I change or settle an agreement early?+
Settlement and amendment options depend on the agreement. Ask for a settlement figure and check any fees or ownership consequences before selling, refinancing or replacing the asset.
What happens if the business has a cash-flow problem?+
Contact the broker or lender early rather than missing payments without explanation. The available options depend on the agreement and circumstances, and missed payments can put the asset and credit profile at risk.
Do I have to use a particular supplier?+
No single supplier route applies to every enquiry. Dealer, manufacturer, private-sale and auction purchases can be considered, but the seller, asset condition, invoice and ownership trail need to be acceptable to the lender.
How do I start if I am not sure which finance route I need?+
Use the quote form and select 'Not sure yet', or call or WhatsApp the team. We can compare ownership, cash flow, VAT, term and end-of-agreement priorities before suggesting a route.
